Skis, so many brands and specifications.  Let's make it basic here and let the shop experts do the rest. There are skate skis there are classic skis.  The flex (camber) of the skis are important for you weight and what you want the skis to do for you. The length of the ski may be an important factor for you as well.  If it is a classic ski you are buying do you want the type you put kick wax on or wax less skis.  If it is wax less skis to you want fish scale or skin tech type of bottoms. I recommend to try to demo skis as you look for what you want. Get the general specifications on your size and try out different brands and different specification.  Remember type of snow, hardness of surface and temperature are changing variables for all skis. Dedicated skiers end up having at least two pair and most many more than two pair.
